Increase in Minimum Wage to $10.50

On June 12, 2024, the Minimum Wage Evaluation Commission approved by a majority of its members
the increase of the state minimum wage from $9.50 to $10.50, effective July 1, 2024, after evaluating the
economic report that analyzed the impact of the minimum wage increase as provided by Act No. 47 of 2021, known as the Puerto Rico Minimum Wage Act (“Act No. 47”).

This legislation increased the state minimum wage applicable to non-exempt employees in Puerto Rico
and created the Minimum Wage Evaluation Commission which is responsible for determining the pertinent adjustments to the local minimum wage. This analysis was based on data collected by the Department of Labor in quarterly tax filings, the quarterly employment and wage census, data collected by the Department of the Treasury in the corporate income tax forms, inflation rate, and other factors as established in Act No. 47.

The wage per hour increase will apply to all workers covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act, except
those workers in the agricultural industry and those employed by government agencies, municipalities and the judicial and legislative branches.
