Ms. Alvarado-González is a highly accomplished attorney with over 10 years of diverse legal experience. Her background includes working as an in-house advisor and counsel and litigating civil cases in state and federal courts, as well as administrative forums. As a litigator, Ms. Alvarado-González has specialized in insurance disputes, class actions, and commercial claims, and has maintained an active appellate practice before the First Circuit Court, and Puerto Rico’s Appeals Court and the Supreme Court.
Ms. Alvarado-González’ deep understanding of insurance law allows her to navigate the intricacies of the claims process and understand coverage nuances. This expertise, in conjunction with her astute negotiation strategies, has enabled her to successfully settle a variety of insurance claims, including property damage disputes and personal injury cases. Ms. Alvarado-González is also highly regarded for her class action litigation know-how, having effectively represented clients in high-stakes class actions before the Federal District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining SCVR, Ms. Alvarado-González was a legal advisor for the Puerto Rico Association of Insurance Company for several years. There, she evaluated and monitored proposed legislation, which entailed investigating legislative intent and the scope of its effects, as well as the submission of written comments. That experience afforded her extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory affairs, particularly laws and regulations related to the insurance industry. As a result, she can deftly navigate the complexities of legislative and regulatory frameworks and advise her clients so as to ensure compliance and minimize legal risks.
Ms. Alvarado-González is a Junior Partner at SCVR. She joined the firm in 2020, after working as an in-house advisor and counsel, and as a litigator at a boutique law firm.
